David Greenwald is the chairman of Fried Frank. Under his leadership, the firm has focused on advising clients on their most complex and challenging matters. 

David is frequently quoted regarding the firm’s strategy and financial performance by industry publications including in The American LawyerBloomberg Big Law BusinessForbesThe LawyerLEADERS Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal.

David began his career at Fried Frank in 1983 and served as a corporate partner from 1990 to 1994, principally representing our private equity clients and clients engaged in mergers or other business combination transactions. Prior to rejoining the firm in 2013, David worked for twenty years in the legal department of Goldman Sachs, where he was named managing director in 1998 and partner in 2000. He served in various roles at Goldman Sachs, including as international general counsel and a deputy general counsel.
